Our solution is specifically designed to be deployed in un-electrified areas of countries that are highly susceptible to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. We will work with schools, equipping them with Small Solar PV systems & ICT solutions that will serve a double purpose: To improve the quality of the education and to setup a disaster preparedness infrastructure so that these institutions can actively contribute to the relief efforts. Through a special smart phone app, head-teachers will be able to relay critical information to disaster response authorities and help ensure that students are safe. Each student will also receive an ultra low-cost LED light that will also serve as an ID card (RFID & QR code). Each child will hence have access to a reliable source of lighting and an official identification. When deployed in a region affected by a crisis or disaster, our solution can serve as the basis for mapping a crisis and help reconnect 100s of lost children with their families.
